"Here We Are!" With all of the technological advances in the past few years, one of my pet projects has been to develop a website that would feature the music that I perform and has influenced me for the past fifty or so years. The "Coleman's Rock" website is also my rather amatuerish way of displaying some of the fun musical projects that we've been working on. I've tried to make it colorful, and a bit fanciful at the same time ... in this way I hope to project the same sort of feeling and style that I experienced as a kid growing up in America during the fifties and sixties.
"So, Who Do You Think You Are?" Of course it goes without saying that each of us is a product of our past experiences. So it is with me musically. In the coming weeks you will find references, links and perhaps pages devoted to some of the artists who have had such a strong influence on me and my music ... artists such as: Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Bob Gibson, Carl Perkins, Hank Williams, The Carter Family, and many others. All of these wonderful groups and individuals have contributed to who I am musically, and I want to share some of what I've learned from them with you.
"Yeah, But Can You Do It Live?" I enjoy live performance very much, and try to gig several times per month. I still make my living, such as it is, performing in clubs, at parties and receptions, for weddings and funerals, civic festivals and libraries, and literally anywhere someone needs some music. Sometimes I'm solo, and sometimes I'll put together a band of close friends for a bigger sound. All of my friends are cordially invited to the public events where I perform, so come on out and enjoy some good old rock and roll. Check out the schedule page at www.colemansrock.com/schedule.htm for a performance near you.
"Biscuits & Gravy" After literally years of stalling on my part, I finally released a collection of a few of my favorite rock and roll tunes on CD. "Biscuits & Gravy ... Hot and Smooth Favorites" is a diverse collection of some of the more popular songs from my live performances. The song list includes ... Bisuits & Gravy, Another Saturday Night, City of New Orleans, Love The One You're With, Under My Thumb, Matchbox, Me & Bobby McGee, House of the Rising Sun, Brown Eyed Girl, Heart of a Saturday Night, The Wanderer, and Danny Boy. I did most of the recording in December, 2004 and had it ready to release on New Year's Eve. It's all in fun and you can pick up a copy for only $10 plus $5 S&H at any of my live performances, or on line at www.colemansrock.com/music.htm
"Something Up My Sleeve" I'm currently working on a project of all, or nearly all original songs. This should be a collection of several different styles including country, rock, folk, gospel and everything in between. Nothing is definite yet, I only have about four songs in the can, but look for a release date around Christmas.
"Turn Your Radio On!" Several folks who have purchased our gospel CD, "Turn Your Radio On" have told us that the first cut won't play on their individual stereo systems . . . They seem to be picking up some type of AM radio signal? Please note: The first track is titled "Radio Tuning Introduction" and sounds like a scratchy AM radio searching for a program. The imaginary program that is being tuned in is the rest of the collection. Just let it play, it was meant to sound like that!
The overall style of the collection harkens to the days of early gospel radio. We freely admit that we have been greatly influenced by the music we encountered in Tennessee and Kentucky during our previous trips east and felt the need to interpret some of our favorite songs in an Appalachian mountain style. Patty Eamons and Sally Holstad joined us singing background on several selections, and Carla adds her special talent to the reading of a few marvelous and inspiring scriptures.
The songlist includes: Radio Tuning Intro, Turn Your Radio On, Two Coats, Bury Me, Amazing Grace, Wayfaring Stranger, Satan's Jewel Crown, I'll Fly Away/Will The Circle Be Unbroken, I Am A Pilgrim, People Get Ready, Potluck In Heaven, Life's Railway To Heaven, The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power, Waiting On The Far Side Banks 0f Jordan, I Love To Tell The Story, and Have Thine Own Way ......
You may purchase a copy through our website by clicking on "Turn Your Radio On!" or by sending your check for $15.00 plus $5.00 s/h for a total of $20 to our mailing address below. We're certain you'll love it!
This May Sound Crazy! I said it once and I'll say it again!! More than ever, we want you to experience, share and enjoy our recordings with your friends and family. So, we encourage you to copy any of our recordings and give them to those you think would enjoy them. That's right ... We're asking you to make copies of our selections and give them away. You might ask why in the world are we doing this? ... Well, Carla and I feel that the more people who hear us, the more who will attend one of our live performances. We enjoy our concerts and performances of "Taps" and "The Last Rose" so much that we feel if you have a listen to what we do in the studio, it just might encourage you to come out and see us in person. Also, if you like what you hear, you might be motivated to buy some of our other realeases. We consider it good advertising ...
So go ahead ... you have our permission to copy and give away our stuff ... but don't let us catch you selling them or else you'll be in big, big trouble!
Well, that's about all the news from this end ..... Remember us in your prayers, and also remember our service personel both here and abroad. We hope to see you soon ......
